Majlis Tindakan Ekonomi Melayu Berhad (MTEM) is an umbrella organization representing 47 Malay economic non-governmental organizations (NGOs) at the national level. There are about 120 organizations Malay economic NGOs at the state level which also come under the MTEM’s umbrella. This established national platform is among the first of its kind in Malaysia and also represents more than 500,000 Malay businesses.

Gemilang is an outreach program to engage and connect with the Malay community, with focus and emphasis on the Gen X & Y, in order to entice and induce their interest towards being entrepreneurial in light of the Government’s strategic initiatives in entrepreneur development and capacity building program.

1.Executive Director – Gemilang is a “Special Purpose Vehicle” of MTEM for Gemilang 360 degrees outreach program focusing on Malay youth entrepreneurship.

Key Responsibilities:

-Reporting to the CEO of MTEM, the Executive Director has overall responsibility for providing strategic and visionary leadership to ensure effective achievement of the organization project mission. Key responsibilities include:
-Leading strategic thinking and operational management in the project development and evaluation; it’s structure and effectiveness; and financial sustainability.
-Overseeing the development of excellent and winning sponsorship proposals.
-Contributing strategically and provides high level technical inputs to project development and other aspects of project implementation.
-Lead the team in the marketing and communication & entrepreneur development strategy of the project.

Requirements

-Ideal Person
-Have very high motivation and commitment to the vision, objectives and strategies of MTEM and the Malay agenda entrepreneur movement.
-Have a strategic and analytical skill who communicates vision and ideas very well.
-Have strong leadership and social relationship abilities both within an organisation and externally, particularly in developing partnerships with diverse agencies including civil society organizations, governments and donors/sponsors.
-Have extensive knowledge and practical experience on various communications mode and entrepreneur development program.
-Have excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
-Possess at least seven years of effective experience working in related fields.
-Skills/Qualifications:
-Business/Economic or relevant tertiary education qualifications.
-Good networking and business contacts.
-Pleasant personality and good interpersonal skills.
-Entrepreneur development with interest in Malay agenda.
-Ability to produce international standard report and proposals.

Requirements:
-Self-starter, independent and a team-player.
-Creative and strategic thinker.
-Able to work under pressure and meeting short deadlines.
-Passionate on Malay agenda.
